Brain chemicals -The key to happiness…
Brain Chemicals that will make you happy.
We often have some days when we feel high, have zest to work hard and motivated. But, then we have some days just opposite to it, we feel down, perplexed and everything becomes a mess. The reason we have for all this is because of either circumstances or people we are around.
But, that is not the truth. The truth is that when we have a good time then there is the release of some neurochemicals, hormones, and neurotransmitters for creating the sense of a feeling and emotion.
This is great because despite our circumstances we can have enthusiasm and a sense of happiness in our life. By triggering some of these chemicals in our body we can have a great day.
1. Brain chemicals –Endorphins
Endorphins are released by the central nervous system of our body to deal with pain. These can be triggered by some human activities such as aerobic exercises or having an intense workout for 20 minutes. Laughter may also stimulate endorphin production; a 2011 study showed that attendees at a comedy club showed increased resistance to pain.
2. Brain chemicals – Oxytocin
Mothers may be familiar with oxytocin, the hormone produced during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Oxytocin is primarily associated with loving touch and close relationships. Meditation, sharing, helping others can boost the release of oxytocin.
3. Brain chemicals – Serotonin
Serotonin is a monoamine neurotransmitter and is found in all bilateral animals. In response to the perceived abundance or scarcity of resources, an animal’s growth, reproduction or mood may be elevated or lowered. This may somewhat depend on how much serotonin the organism has at its disposal.Exposure to bright light, especially sunshine, is one way to increase serotonin. Exercise and happy thoughts also stimulate production of this chemical.
4. Brain chemicals – Dopamine
In the brain, dopamine functions as a neurotransmitter—a chemical released by neurons to send signals to other nerve cells. when we accomplish any target or hit a goal, there is a pleasurable hit of dopamine in our brain. Some research has even found that it only takes thoughts of loving kindness to bring on the dopamine high.
