Why JNU is one of the prestigious university

I remember one of my professors who was a former student with JNU ones say “what JNU talks about today, the world will talk about tomorrow”
An institute that has time and again made it to the news whether, for its prestigious ranking, distinguished alumni or the leftist ideas it supports, Jawaharlal Nehru University is one of the foremost institutions of higher studies in the country. Established in 1969 due to an act of parliament the university offers a higher studies degree in every subject you can think of. Arts, humanities, engineering, law, education, media and mass communication, commerce, management, and business studies, you name a course and JNU has it, along with very prestigious alumni to brag about.
Every year JNU makes it to the top of a priority list of students who apply for Post graduate and Ph.D. degrees. A reputation that is mainly sought for is owed to the following reasons
1. A reputed faculty and a world known alumni:
JNU is known for the reputed faculty it has, the professors are known to be very friendly, liberal and supportive, if you look closely all of JNU’s faculty member have been awarded with some or the other Laurel whether in the country or abroad. JNU has a strong commitment to teaching and research, this is especially the case in social sciences. Over the years it is the institute’s well-qualified faculty that has led students to take admission. JNU is more famous for its alumni than its facilities, it provides the best facilities to its students and there are no second thoughts about that but it is the students who have made the best use of these facilities that have given it the reputation JNU enjoys today. JNU proudly brags about an alumnus which is the best in its own domain. Romila Thapa, MSS Pandyan, GTV Prasad, Sayed Ibrahim, Ali Zaiden, Amitabh KANT are all distinguished luminaires in their own fields and are the product of this great university.
2. A huge campus:
situated it the southern part of Delhi, the university covers an area of 1019.38 acres, a area that is large enough that you need auto-rickshaws to travel within it! Heard of the Parthsarthy rocks? It is one of the tourist attraction in Delhi famous as a sunset point. Now how many universities can brag about a tourist point inside it? I believe none other than the mighty JNU.
3. A very prestigious ranking:
JNU is one of the top 10 universities in India. It has a overall rank of 7, and is on the second position Indian universities as of NIRF data, 2019.
4. Affordable fees:
One of the reasons why people strive for a government university is because of its cheap fees. Who does not want a reputed degree but not everyone has the luxury to spend lakhs on education itself. JNU is not only a institute where you get world-class facilities and education but
one that does not burn a hole in your pocket. In addition to this JNU is a institute that promotes simple living and higher thinking. 5. A liberal atmosphere:
Unlike most universities, JNU has no curfew timings or a dress code to follow. The institute believes in giving everybody their share of freedom, whether it be in terms of expression or choice. It is safe to say it is one of those institutes where people do not judge you based on what you wear, where are you from but on your caliber. A campus that is culturally vibrant, it encourages debates without any violent backlash. JNU is a institute which is believed to instill values of tolerance, acceptance, brotherhood and empathy in its students.
All the above reasons has resulted in JNU having the prestige it enjoys today, in fact if you were to ask the student themselves they would not call it less than a heaven. A place where they have truly come respect education.
Now reading about such a grand institution might have given you the adrenaline rush to be a product of the same, fret not the JNU admission procedures are not much complicated like the university itself.
